Council hosts citizenship ceremonies for Nillumbik residents on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.
Citizenship ceremonies are special events. They fulfil requirements under Australian citizenship law. They also provide an important opportunity to officially welcome new citizens as full members of the Australian community. They are often an emotional experience for the new citizen, as well as their host and guests.

For information about your Australian citizenship application, or ceremony, contact the Department on 131 880 between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.

Your citizenship ceremony will be scheduled by the Department of Home Affairs usually within six months from the time your application is approved, although waiting times can vary. You will receive a letter of invitation within 4 weeks of the scheduled ceremony.
