Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard

The Victorian Government’s new Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard is changing the way Victorians understand and manage their home’s energy performance.

Nillumbik Shire Council is pleased to be offering energy efficiency assessments using the Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard, a new Australian-first program that rates the energy efficiency and hot weather performance of your home and provides tailored recommendations for home upgrade improvements.

A Scorecard assessment of your home provides you with an overall star rating out of 10 that represents the average cost of energy for your home. The assessment also provides a way of knowing where the majority of energy is used in your home and considers fixed appliances such as heating, cooling and hot water appliances, as well as the construction and design of your home.

Nillumbik’s assessors may also be able to talk about no-cost or low-cost changes you can make to the way you use appliances in your home to reduce the amount of energy used, discuss other programs available to residents to assist with the cost of implementing changes and provide a list of local suppliers that offer products and services to make homes more energy efficient.

The cost of an assessment is $175 for most households. For residents holding any type of pension card the fee is $25.

All Scorecard Assessors are accredited through the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. Further information about the program can be found at
