Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Inclusion Grants

The Council Plan 2017 – 2021 highlights Council’s commitment to support initiatives that promote inclusivity so everyone is valued and our diversity is celebrated.

Council is working in partnership with our Inclusion Advisory Committee to provide a number of grants up to $1,000.

The LGBTI Inclusion Grants are designed to support community groups and not-for-profit organisations to highlight an existing or new community activity, project or event to foster and celebrate LGBTI inclusivity. 

Grant value  

Up to $1000. Grants must not be used to fund wages or in-kind hours.

Any remaining funds cannot be rolled over.

Total grant pool of $5000

Dates

Grant applications open Monday 1 October 2018

Grant applications close Sunday 14 October 2018

Projects must be undertaken in November or December 2018.

Selection criteria

  • Be within a reasonable price range from free, to a maximum of $10 per person.
  • Demonstrate inclusive, creative and innovative activities which broaden community participation and awareness of local LGBTI needs and aspirations.
  • Engages and celebrates our LGBTI community.
  • Utilises our public spaces and facilities.
  • The event must take place in November or December 2018

Eligibility

  • Must be an incorporated not for profit group or organisation, or an individual who represents a community group, organisation or school that delivers projects and activities within the Shire of Nillumbik.

  • Unincorporated groups which are auspiced by an incorporated body.

  • Must hold a current certificate of currency and have a minimum $10 million for Public Liability insurance.

If you hand deliver or mail the form you must provide copies of  

  • Public Liability Insurance Certificate  
  • Certificate of Currency 
  • Quotes for any services or products required for the project  

Assessment

The expression of interest must meet the eligibility criteria and where appropriate, contain supporting documentation or visuals of concepts or previous event flyers. A panel including Councillor Jane Ashton and members of the Inclusion Advisory Committee will review the Expressions of Interest based on the eligibility criteria. You may also be contacted for further information and to discuss the project. 

The decision of the Inclusion Advisory Committee will be final. 

Timeline 

Applications open Monday 1 October and close 5pm Sunday 14 October 2018 

All applicants will be notified via phone and email of the outcome of their application on Friday 26 October 2018

Grant writing workshops

Help strengthen your grant writing skills by developing an understanding of what grant holders are looking for and how to best 'sell' your project. These grant writing workshops are free, but bookings are essential.
