Children with additional needs
An Inclusion Support Facilitator (ISF) works to promote and support the inclusion of children with additional needs into Commonwealth-funded services such as:
- long day care
- vacation care
- outside school hours care
- occasional care
- family day care
The Inclusion Support Facilitator supports these services in a number of ways;
- assistance in program planning and strategies
- consulting with staff and other professionals
- referrals to other professionals and services
- applications for extra funding for children with high support needs
- provision of information about services and specialist agencies
The Inclusion Support Facilitator (with parental/guardian permission) can also assist eligible services with:
- children who are experiencing difficulty in the program;
- children who are undergoing assessment;
- children who have a diagnosed physical, sensory, neurological, intellectual or developmental delay
- children from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, South Seas Islander or a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
