Planning and building applications are the responsibility of the Planning and Building Services Section (03) 9433 3343.
Statutory planning information can be accessed from this web page.
Building permit information from Council's Building Services Unit can be accessed at Nillumbik Environmental Building Surveyors or by calling (03) 9433 3243.
Strategic planning and planning scheme amendments are the responsibility of the Environment and Strategic Planning Section (03) 9433 3210.

Nillumbik Planning Scheme
The Nillumbik Planning Scheme is available on DPCD's website (Nillumbik Planning Scheme). As well as providing access to the Nillumbik Planning Scheme including zoning and overlay maps, there are also links to Scheme amendments and the Victoria Planning Provisions (VPPs).
Planning Maps Online
Printable interactive maps and reports showing zoning and overlay details are available at (planning maps online). The Get Report function prepares a Zone and Overlays report. The folders and tick-boxes in the Build Map function can be used to refine detail.

| Planning: A Short Guide
This guide was written for the community. It leads users through the most common planning processes including applying for and objecting to a planning permit.
Together with other publications and information, the guide can be viewed on (DPCD's website) or it can be accessed directly at (Planning: A Short Guide).

Aerial photos are available on Councils web site at Maps Online where you can view map data from Nillumbik Shire Council's geographic information system (GIS) including property boundaries and aerial photos (aerial photos were taken approximately January 2005).
Alternately, January 2009 aerial photos are available on DPCD's (planning maps online) using the 'build map' tick-boxes.

The Planning and Building Services Section at Nillumbik Shire Council can be contacted to clarify any planning or building issue. With respect to statutory planning matters, applicants are strongly encouraged to make contact with Council prior to making a planning application.
The Planning and Building Services Section comprises three units as follows:
Statutory Planning Unit:
Responsible for implementing the statutory planning functions of the Nillumbik Planning Scheme including subdivisions and planning investigations.
Building Services Unit: Nillumbik Environmental Building Surveyors
Operates as a business unit providing a service within the Shire and also throughout Victoria. Services include building permits and inspections, consultancy, statutory services and energy rating.
Administration Unit:
Provides administrative support to the entire Planning and Building Services Section.
