7 February 2009 marked Australia's worst natural disaster. This meant for Nillumbik, that just under a quarter of the Shire was devastated by fire. Lives were lost and many homes were destroyed.
Nillumbik Shire Council is committed to providing continuing support and information to its communities following the bushfires.
Each fortnight, Council produces a Bushfire Bulletin, which is distributed throughout the Shire and provides our residents with the most up-to-date information available on bushfire recovery, community meetings, financial assistance, public health information and more.
