Council’s hard waste collection will be running through October to the first week of November. The Shire has been organised into five collection areas with one week allocated to each area.

When is your hard waste collected?
If your kerbside bins are collected on   Your hard waste needs to be out ready for collection by    
Tuesday   6am Monday 5 October    
Wednesday   6am Monday 12 October     
Thursday   6am Monday 19 October     
Friday   6am Monday 26 October     
Monday   6am Monday 2 November     

The five things you need to know:
1. Each resident will receive a collection brochure approximately two weekends prior to their collection outlining when to have materials ready for collection.
2. Materials must not be placed out for collection any earlier than TEN DAYS prior to your collection date.
3. All materials need to be placed out neatly in two piles, one for metal, and one for other items, ready for collection on the nature strip BEFORE 6am on the date shown on your brochure.
4. There is a limit of two cubic metres (1m wide x 1m high x 2m long) of hard waste per household that can be placed out for collection.
5. There are a number of items that will not be collected. Check the list below or the brochure for excluded items.

What can you place out for collection
 Old tins, scrap iron, and other waste metal
 EMPTY and CLEAN paint tins (lids off!)
 Crockery and chinaware
 Household furniture such as couches and beds
 Mattresses (limit two per household)
 Carpet (rolled and tied – limit 1 roll)
 Household appliances such as stoves, washing machines and dishwashers
 Refrigerators (remove doors)
 Electrical appliances, tools, mowers and small car parts
 Sheet glass, wrapped in strong paper, taped and marked GLASS
 Up to 10 pieces of timber, less than1.5 metres in length. Nails bent or removed
 

What you can’t put out for collection
 No over length or overweight items of any nature
 No waste from commercial and industrial premises
 No building waste
 No renovation material
 No fence panels
 No bricks, concrete, stone, clay, sand or soil
 No liquids including paint, oil, garden sprays and chemicals
 No hazardous waste including asbestos (EPA – 9695 2722)
 No household garbage
 No green waste
 No TYRES or BATTERIES of any type
 No gas bottles
