Seniors Festival 2018

The Victorian Seniors Festival runs during October every year, aiming to promote inclusive communities and providing an opportunity for older people to try new things, contribute, and remain active and engaged in their local community.

Thousands of low cost or free events and special offers will take place across the State. There will also be events held locally in and around Nillumbik.

The Seniors website has information about events around the State and free public transport. 

Nillumbik 2018 Seniors Festival Program 

Council will be publishing a Festival Program with details of all events being held in Nillumbik and will be available in early September.

Community groups, organisations, sporting clubs etc are invited to provide details of your event to us so that we can promote it on our website and in our printed program. You can also apply for a grant up to $1000 to help you run your event or activity.

Event ideas include:

  • An open day to find out more about your group or club
  • Tours or sightseeing excursions
  • ‘Come and try’ day
  • Social event 
  • Information sessions or awareness raising

The possibilities are endless and provide the perfect opportunity for you to promote what you do to the wider community.

Council will make the final decision about which events are include in the Nillumbik Seniors Festival Program 

Seniors Festival Grant details

Council is working in with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Nillumbik Positive Ageing Reference Group to provide a number of grants of up to $1000 to help fund your get Seniors Festival event.

Your event or activity should honour, engage and encourage participation of our community aged 55 and over.

Eligibility criteria

The event or activity must

  • Take place during October 2018 within Nillumbik
  • Target and engage people aged 55 and over
  • Be within a reasonable price range from free up to $10 per person
  • Be an event which is in a friendly and inclusive environment
  • Promote healthy and active ageing for Nillumbik residents

Businesses who register their details will receive a promotional flyer to show customers that you are a proud supporter of the Seniors Festival, and will be promoted on our website.
