Amendment C85 - Lot 1 Graysharps road, Hurstbridge

The Nillumbik Shire Council has prepared Amendment C85 to the Nillumbik Planning Scheme.
The amendment applies to land known as Lot 1 on PS547201P 44 Graysharps Road, Hurstbridge.
The amendment proposes to rezone part of the former Hurstbridge Secondary College site recently purchased by Council, to facilitate the development of intergenerational housing.

Specifically the amendment proposes to:

  • Rezone the land from Public Use Zone 2-Education to Township Zone
  • Apply Development Plan Overlay 7  -  Lot 1 Graysharps Road Hurstbridge to the site

Amendment C85 to the Nillumbik Planning Scheme has been closed for public exhibition.  A Panel was appointed by the Minister for Planning to consider submissions to the amendment and a hearing was conducted on 24 June 2015. The Disposal of Land (Section 189)

This is a formality which enables Council to sell the land that we have bought from the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to a developer via a tender. Part of that tendering process includes strict criteria for the development and requests how developers will address the accessibility, diversity, affordability, environmental and neighbourhood characteristics of the development. Public consultation is also part of this process and you are able to make a comment on the sale of the land.

Council has entered into a Contract of Sale with the current owner of the land, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) to purchase the land described above and settlement of the purchase is to occur on or before 30 June 2015. Upon conclusion of the purchase and title to the land passing to Council, it is Council’s intention to on-sell the land.

Any submissions about the Disposal of Land (Section 189) have been closed

Council will not make any final decision on the proposed future sale of the land or otherwise until in accordance with Section 223 of the Act, it has considered all submissions that are received on the matter at a future meeting of Council’s Policy and Services Committee (the Council Committee) at a date to be determined. Any person making a submission may elect to address the Council Committee in relation to their submission or nominate another person to address Council on their behalf.
