Nillumbik offers a great range of attractions for all ages and interests. From its many bicycle and walking trails to the famous St Andrews Market and the iconic artists' colony of Montsalvat, there is plenty here to make you want to return again and again.

Below are just some of our popular attractions.  Visit the Nillumbik Tourism Association website for further ideas and inspriation on things to do.

  • Montsalvat, 7-15 Hillcrest Avenue, Eltham. Famous for its architecture, music and poetry festivals, performances in the Great Hall and fabulous art exhibitions. Open 7 days.
  • Diamond Valley Miniature Railway, Eltham Lower Park, 570 Main Road, Eltham. Operates every Sunday from 11am to 5pm and selected public holidays. Also Wednesdays during school holidays (except December) from 1pm to 4pm. 
  • Eltham Community Craft and Produce Market, Alistair Knox Park, Main Road, Eltham. The 3rd Sunday of the month February to October, the 1st and 3rd Sundays November and December, from 8.30am to 1pm.
  • Hurstbridge Farmers' Market, Fergusons Paddock, Hurstbridge. The first Sunday of the month (except January), from 8.30am to 1pm.
  • Artists Open Studios.The artists' heritage of Eltham and surrounding areas lives on today through the numerous artists' studios spread throughout Nillumbik. Artists open their studios as part of the Artists Open Studios program each year in May and November. For more information call 1300 660 072.
  • The Heidelberg School Artists Trail consists of 57 interpretive signs celebrating the artists of the Heidelberg School who lived and painted in this area. It is a self-drive, cycling or walking trail that stretches from Heidelberg through Nillumbik, through to Warrandyte and to the Dandenongs. For a brochure call 13 19 63.
  • Nillumbik has a number of boutique wineries where you can meet the wine-maker, taste and buy some superb wines of the area and enjoy a variety of architectural styles and rural scenes. For more information, or to download a map of the local wineries, visit the Nillumbik Tourism website.
  • Edendale Farm Community Environment Centre, Gastons Road, Eltham. Open every day, except Christmas Day, from 9.30am-4.30pm.
