We asked our returning and new Councillors some questions based on their concerns and interests, so you can get to know them.
Q. Why did you nominate for Council?
I grew up in the Shire and, having lived here for most of my life, I'm dedicated to getting the best outcomes for the local community in the way of services and facilities. I also want to help maintain and support our incredible network of community volunteer groups across the Shire.
Q. What is your working/life background?
I have a background in Aged Care, I have been a CFA volunteer firefighter for 18 years and a career firefighter with the MFB for the past eight years.
Q. What are your main interests outside Council?
Swimming, water sports, snow skiing, socialising with friends, as well as riding my bike and walking my dog along Nillumbik's fantastic recreational trails.
Q. What do you believe are the biggest issues facing Nillumbik in the next four years?
I believe the biggest issue facing our Shire now and into the future is retaining the natural environment and the wide open spaces - which is why people love to live in Nillumbik - while also planning for some growth, particularly in our commercial sectors and close to our activity centres within the Urban Growth Boundary.
Q. It’s Sunday – family or friends drop over – where would you take them? (e.g. Eltham Miniature Railway, brunch at one of our great cafes, wine tasting or meal at a small winery, cycling along the Diamond Creek)
A great place to enjoy lunch is the Vines café in Diamond Creek.
Q. What’s the best time, day or method for residents and community groups to contact you?
Anytime of the day on my mobile phone or via email.
