Pandemic Recovery Plan

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant and enduring impact on all aspects of life around the world. The social, health and economic impacts have stretched all of us as we have had to respond to new and challenging situations.

Through all phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, Council continues to support the Nillumbik community through the adaptation of services and programs, so that people can continue to access what they need and stay connected as best as possible. As we move from response to recovery, we need to look further ahead at how we can best rebuild and reconnect.

The Nillumbik Pandemic Recovery Plan seeks to outline how Council has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the approach we are taking to continue to support the community through the recovery process. 

Ongoing recovery actions will be captured in the Council Plan 2021-2025 and the Municipal Public Health & Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025.

Together in Nillumbik Survey

COVID-19 has had a direct impact on people’s lives within the municipality. In August 2020, Council in partnership healthAbility launched the Together in Nillumbik Survey to gain an understanding of how COVID-19 was impacting the community.

A total of 380 responses were received and the data was analysed. Four themes were identified and a series of recommendations developed including:

  1. Inclusion
  2. Healthy environments
  3. Healthy behaviours
  4. Economic and education

Nillumbik Pandemic Recovery Taskforce

The Council Taskforce was formed during the pandemic to identify strategic approaches to address the social and economic impacts of COVID-19. The taskforce will be using the outcomes of the State Government Research and the results from the Together in Nillumbik Report to plan for the road to recovery for Nillumbik. 


Local Services Network

The Nillumbik Local Services Network, a collaboration between Nillumbik Shire Council, healthAbility and Diamond Valley Community Support, has been established to enhance municipal response and recovery in relation to COVID-19 for Nillumbik. The partnership brings together community organisations and service providers to explore local need, identify opportunities to address service gaps and strengthen partnerships to improve community wellbeing.
