Update regarding coronavirus, COVID-19 and Council meeting arrangements

The Ordinary Council meeting for 24 March 2020 will be streamed live from 7.00pm. A link will be provided on the Minutes and Agendas webpage.

Health and safety are our top priority, and to help contain the spread of coronavirus, COVID-19 we ask members of the public to reconsider attending the meeting. As an alternative, we are keeping the meeting open and accessible online.

The livestream will allow you to tune in at any time and rewatch any point of the meeting wherever you have access.

The livestream is not interactive

Any comments or private messages directed to us while the stream is live will not be presented to Council or have bearing on the conduct of the meeting.

Although the meeting for 24 March will be streamed live, Council has yet to decide on streaming future Council meetings.

Questions to Council

Questions to Council on 24 March, will be read out and answered and included in the Council minutes. Despite the requirement in the Meeting Procedure Local Law 2017, you do not need to be present for your question to be read out and answered.

Should you wish to attend, we will be taking steps to ensure the public gallery is set up in line with requirements for social distancing (1.5m separation) and hand sanitiser will be available.

Council meetings

Ordinary Council Meetings are generally held on the 4th Tuesday of each month, commencing at 7.00pm.

 Council has one special committee under section 86 of the Local Government Act 1989, the Future Nillumbik Committee. Meetings are generally held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, commencing at 7.00pm.

Special Council Meetings are called as required pursuant to section 84(1) of the Local Government Act 1989.

Council and Committee meetings are held in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre, Civic Drive, Greensborough. Any changes to the date, time or location of meetings are advertised.

Ask a question at an Ordinary Council Meeting

To ask a question of Council at an Ordinary Council Meeting, complete the Ask a question form and submit by 5.00pm on the day prior to the meeting. Your name will be read out at the meeting and recorded in the minutes.

Speak at a Future Nillumbik Committee meeting

If you wish to speak to an item on the Future Nillumbik Committee agenda complete the Speak to Committee form. Each speaker is allowed three minutes to speak to the agenda item.

From midnight 22 September 2020, Council will be entering into the caretaker period, prior to Local Government elections on 24 October 2020. Dates for Council meetings post October 2020 will be determined once the new Council is established.
