Following the further easing of state-wide COVID-19 restrictions Council is pleased to announce the further staged re-opening of Council facilities as of Monday 22 June.

Nillumbik Mayor Karen Egan said Council’s priority continues to be the health and safety of the community and staff, and the appropriate safety measures have been put in place.

“As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to develop, we will be guided by the advice of the appropriate authorities,” Cr Egan said.

“We appreciate your patience as we work through these complex issues.”

Following the reopening of the pool earlier this month, the Eltham Leisure Centre will reopen to gym users and provide further increased access to pools at 6am on Monday 22 June.

At this stage, aqua and group fitness classes are planned to return on Monday 29 June.

Measures put in place by manager Aligned Leisure include:

Gym:

- 60-minute pre-booked gym sessions

- Limit of 20 people per session

- Increased spacing of equipment to support social distancing.

For more information or to book a gym or pool visit please go to the Eltham Leisure Centre website or call 9439 2266.

At Yarrambat Park Golf Course, the mini-golf course will reopen, with 20 mini-golf bookings per hour. Visitors are encouraged to book online here to avoid missing out. The main golf course reopened in May.

The Eltham and Diamond Valley branches of the Yarra Plenty Regional Library Service continue to be open for Click & Collect services only, with further announcements expected in the coming week.

Council is continuing to work with user groups of sports pavilions and clubrooms to enable the safe reopening of facilities in line with government recommendations. We will keep the community informed as more information is available.

Each Council facility carries a different set of operational challenges. We are working through these respective challenges in order to reopen as soon as safely and practically possible - in line with State Government-mandated restrictions.

We will keep the community fully informed of any developments and Council would like to thank you for your patience and for your efforts in the fight to defeat this pandemic.
