The Victorian Government has identified Council-owned land at Civic Drive, Greensborough, as its preferred location for the Eltham Area Community Hospital and we are aware that the agency responsible for the delivery of the project, the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), will seek formal community feedback during August.

Council has not yet resolved a position on whether or not to sell the land to the Victorian Government.

We expect to do so once we have the necessary advice and gained a more comprehensive understanding of the proposal and its impacts. Our priority through all of this will be to do what we can within our power to influence a positive community outcome, to enable the community to express its views on the matter and to ensure the community is kept informed throughout.

Council has sought further detail on the proposed hospital and advice on its potential economic, social and environmental impacts on the precinct.

As this is a Victorian Government project, any questions about the project and its location would be best put to the VHBA as the responsible authority.
