Submit your planning permit application

Overview

When you are ready to submit your planning permit application to Nillumbik Shire Council, you will need apply via Council's online services using the:

  • standard application process, or
  • VicSmart application process.

Not all application types are eligible for the VicSmart process.

Check your eligibility for VicSmart

VicSmart is a streamlined application process for low-impact and straightforward planning permit applications.

Only certain types of applications are eligible to be fast-tracked under VicSmart. Proposals that may be eligible include:

  • minor subdivisions
  • small scale buildings and works
  • some tree removals and lopping
  • small advertising signs
  • car parking reductions.

For your application to be eligible, you will need to meet very specific criteria set by the Victorian Government. It will also depend on the zone of your property and if any overlays apply.

The Victorian Government's Planning website has more information about what applications are eligible and how the VicSmart process works.

To minimise delays, it is important that you contact us before you apply, to check if your application is eligible.
