As part of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Nillumbik Council is partnering with Banyule City Council, City of Whittlesea and the Yarra Plenty regional Library for the Respect is... Reading Challenge.

We are asking you to read books that challenge gender stereotypes and explore respectful, healthy relationships.

Gender stereotypes can be limiting to us all and can lead to disrespect and violence.

We want you to join the challenge to read books that challenge gender stereotypes and explore respectful, healthy relationships.

Individual and family/group prizes to be won including local pool passes, local business vouchers and books!

  1. Read a book that promotes gender equality and respect. Your local library have many to choose from.
  2. Take a photo of yourself or your family/group reading the book you select.
  3. Tell us what you think about the book's message by 10 December 2020. Email your response and photo to Family.Services@nillumbik.vic.gov.au or post on Facebook or Instagram using #respectis #16dayscampaign #16DaysNillumbik #BuildingaRespectfulCommunity and tag @nillumbikcouncil
