Art in the Time of COVID-19
Nillumbik Shire Council is proud to support its vibrant arts and cultural community through the Art in the Time of COVID-19 program.
In May 2020, artists of all mediums were invited to apply for employment opportunities in three streams:
- Art in the Time of COVID-19
- Written in the Time of COVID-19
- Live Streaming in the Time of COVID-19
Council received 356 applications from artists both locally and across the country. This underscores the appeal of the program and the great need within the arts sector during the pandemic.

Live Streamed in the Time of COVID-19
Council invited artists of all mediums to submit an application to host live-streamed arts and cultural events.
This led to LIVE JULY, a program of 36 live-streamed events featuring 47 artists. The program was hosted on the Nillumbik Arts Facebook channel in July 2020.
The live-steamed events included performances of classical piano, singer-songwriter sets, jazz, photography workshops, music lessons, screen writing, etching and tours of artist’s studios.
