Southern Toadlet Music Making Workshop with local musician and music educator Kate Adam.

Come and join in a music making activity in Bunjil Reserve. Our workshop is designed to foster a deeper connection to nature with the focus on developing awareness of the endangered Southern Toadlet that inhabits select waterways within Nillumbik.

The workshop will begin with mindfulness activities with a focus on our senses, using them to immerse ourselves within our natural environment. We will then make musical instruments from locally and environmentally sourced wood and explore the sounds that can be created. Finally we will compose a musical soundscape created around the call of the Southern Toadlet.

All ages welcome, grandparents with grandkids, families, etc.

This workshop is the first in the Under the Canopy; Making and Shaping series of activities in the Panton Hill Bushland Reserves during 2022 and 2023 curated by Paradoxa Collective and supported by Nillumbik Council. This activity and the instruments made will inform and support a performance planned for On the Hill Festival in Bunjil Reserve 2023. Participants of the workshop will be invited to be involved.

Paradoxa Collective members are an artist collective and the activity will be documented with photographs and videos. Please think about whether you are comfortable being in our documentation and let us know at the beginning of the event if you are not.
