Shop in our Shire this Summer
The Diamond Creek Trail is a unique way to explore our townships of Hurstbridge, Diamond Creek and Eltham, and summer is the best time to combine a bit of retail therapy with nature. Hurstbridge train line follows the trail with stops at all townships so you can sit back, enjoy the bushland view as you ponder your shopping excursion.
Hurstbridge's village feel is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of large shopping centres, and you will enjoy wandering through beautiful gift and homeware stores as well as community op shops where antique treasures are just waiting to be discovered. A monthly market on the first Sunday of each month (re-commencing 4 February in 2024) showcases local produce and crafts. Create your own gourmet picnic from local food providores and find the perfect post-shopping resting place along the Diamond Creek Trail.
Diamond Creek, the mid-way point along the trial, offers a mix of great coffee, renowned gift wares for children and a local brewery - there really is something for everyone. Be sure to visit precincts on either side of the bridge to take in the entire Diamond Creek experience. For an unexpected surprise take a detour along George Street - you won't be disappointed.
Eltham is a vibrant town with a range of retail delights from distinctive homewares, sporting apparel, kids wear, an iconic bookstore, on-trend fashion and so much more. There are many hubs to visit including the Main Street, Town Centre, Eltham Village, the Mall and Terrace, not to mention the gems to be discovered along Brougham Street, just on the edge of Eltham's industrial area.
So while the sun is shining in our beautiful part of the globe, follow the Diamond Creek Trail by foot, bike or train for the perfect mix of retail and nature-base therapy.
Follow Visit Nillumbik to discover our impressive hospitality venues, unique retail experiences, our natural beauty, where the markets are and so much more.
