Responsible pet ownership

Interested in training your dog and becoming a responsible pet owner?

We recommend you contact one of the following clubs that offer specialised training and certificates for you and your dog.

Dog Obedience Certificate

The Wiltja Dog Obedience Club can assess your dog for the Dog Obedience Certificate issued under the Domestic Animals Act 1994.

The certificate tests:

  • on-lead control of your dog
  • calling your dog from a distance
  • a stay exercise
  • human and dog interaction.

A dog can be assessed for the Obedience Certificate if:

  • An owner considers their dog has reached the required level of proficiency
  • And the dogs 5 months of age
  • And the dog is immunised.

Dog Obedience Certificate preparation training

This years course will commenced on 28 April 2019.

The Wiltja Dog Club runs a free five week course for dogs that need training before sitting the Dog Obedience Certificate test.

The training is free, however a $30 fee (prescribed by the Regulations) for sitting the Obedience Certificate must be paid at the time of booking.
