Nillumbik Australia Day Awards

Each year Council provides the opportunity to recognise individuals and community groups for the outstanding work they do in the community. 

Award categories

There are four award categories available for nomination:

  • Nillumbik Young Citizen of the Year (16-30 years)
  • Nillumbik Senior Citizen of the Year (60 years and over)
  • Nillumbik Volunteer of the Year
  • Nillumbik Community Group of the Year

The Citizen of the Year Award is determined by the overall highest score received through the judging process.

Nominations

Members of the community are encouraged to nominate those that make them proud to be Australian. Nominations open in September each year. 

Awards ceremony 

We celebrate the achievements of those within our community by announcing award recipients at the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony event held on Australia Day - 26 January.
