Grants available

Nillumbik Shire Council is committed to preventing violence against women and promoting gender equality. Small grants of up to $500 are available to support awareness raising and community led projects in the Nillumbik community that will be undertaken during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence campaign from 25 November to 10 December.

Key dates

  • Applications open Monday 29 July 2019   
  • Applications close midnight Friday 20 September 2019 

Projects must be undertaken between 25 November and 10 December 2019

2018 Grant Recipients

Need some inspiration for your 2019 grant application? Here are some ideas  that were awarded grants in 2018:

  • Purchase of books that challenge gender stereotypes for a primary school library
  • A Men's Shed purchased bright orange wigs and used them as a conversation starter to talk about gender inequality
  • A girls skateboard clinic was organised
  • A leisure centre organised a '16 hours of cycling' challenge
  • A morning tea with guest speaker
