Important changes to Home and Community Care Program for Younger People

HACC-PYP in-home services have been managed by Nillumbik Shire Council who have contracted mecwacare as the direct service provider. From 1 July 2020, mecwacare will directly manage and deliver in-home services.

The Home and Community Care Program for Younger People provides support for people with disabilities whose capacity for independent living is at risk. It is available to people up to the age of 65 years.

Services are for younger people with moderate, severe or profound disabilities and their unpaid carers. Younger people are encouraged to test their eligibility with the National Disability Insurance Scheme prior to accessing support services. NDIS can be contacted on 1800 800 110.

The HACC PYP services which Council provides are:

  • Domestic assistance
  • Personal care
  • Food services (delivered meals)
  • Planned activity group
  • Property maintenance
  • Respite services
  • Transport services.

Services are funded by Council and the State Government. Fees for services are means tested and are discussed once a referral has been made
