Civic Drive Development

As part of the development of the Civic Drive Precinct, Council commenced the upgrade to community facilities across the parkland. On 24 May 2016, Council adopted the Civic Drive Community Facilities Masterplan, to guide the upgrade of open space and the development of community recreation facilities, including the outdoor performance space.

The Southern Community Space will feature flat open lawn areas defined by a perimeter and integrated path network, and complemented by planting. Works commenced on this section of the park in October 2017.

The Northern Community Space will be characterised by an open sloping lawn area suited for large gatherings as well as informal recreation and play. A range of active and sensory play opportunities will be set within this space, with the addition of a barbeque shelter. This northern community space will be connected by paths for walking and jogging. The area in front of the Outdoor Performance Centre will have grassed, terraced seating to support performances held at the venue, with a basketball key for use when events are not programmed. Works commenced on this space in September 2018.

In November 2016 the Victorian Government announced it would contribute $950K through its Growing Suburbs Fund toward the delivery of the masterplan. This projected is scheduled for completion by January 2019.
