Council is inviting residents to participate in our annual National Tree Day event, where we are ambitiously aiming to plant 2,000 indigenous plants at Eltham Lower Park.

This event will take place on Sunday 27 July from 10am to 1pm at 570 Main Road Eltham (with a BBQ 12pm-1pm). The site is located at the end of Homestead Road.

This initiative is part of Planet Ark's National Tree Day – Australia's largest community tree planting and nature care event.

The tree planting is part of an ongoing revegetation project to strengthen the habitat corridor along the Diamond Creek. It will focus on providing butterfly habitat for a number of species (including the Eltham Copper Butterfly that is found adjacent to the park in Hohnes Hill Reserve and the locally significant Imperial Hairstreak) as well as improving the quality of the Diamond Creek for the threatened platypus and a range of other mammals, fish and bird species.

We're calling on all residents to roll up their sleeves and join us in this important work. Every tree planted is a step towards a greener, healthier future for our community.

Participants of all ages are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary. Council will provide all necessary tools and guidance on the day.
