Shop in our Shire - Winter Shout Out Winners
Thank you to everyone who gave a warm shout-out to our locally owned and operated Nillumbik businesses.
Across our Warm Winter Shop in our Shire campaign, we received 731 shout-outs to over 150 of our local businesses.
Here are some of our favourite warm shout-outs:
“They not only serve the most delicious coffee, roasted on-site, they also craft incredible pastries that are second to none. Their team are warm and welcoming, and the owners Caleb and Rebecca bring an authentic spirit and resilience that is evident in their passion for their produce. Walking in to order a coffee and “morning bun” feels like you’re walking in to a friends home. They always smile, and there is a smell of deliciousness that fills the space.”
Chloe’s warm shout-out to Craftwork Roasting Company, Eltham.
“The owner of this cafe is Mark, he is the best bloke going around. He would remember literally hundreds of his customers' names. He makes an effort to know everyone. He is the only cafe that can be swamped with 50 + coffee orders at once on a weekend and keep up. Best coffee and service I’ve ever experienced. He is a Diamond Creek essential. Any local would agree”.
Parker’s warm shout out to Piccolo Meccanico, Diamond Creek
“They are so warm and welcoming. The shop always smells beautiful with a blend she makes herself, and sells if you ask :-) Their homewares and gifts are unique and lovely. And they donated to our community wildlife rescue appeal :-)”.
Annaleigh’s warm shout-out to Okuden, Hurstbridge.
“Both the sit-down and take-away cafes are amazing, the gift shop has something for everyone, the kids love to feed the ducks, the nursery has a great range of products and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable”.
Tamara’s warm shout-out to Rivers of Yarrambat.
“Beautiful collection of lovingly made items by local artists, all in one cosy nook in St Andrews, usually one of the artists is there themselves and always lovely chatting with them :)”.
Daena’s warm shout-out to Bizu Studio, St Andrews.
Congratulations to Jeanine of Diamond Creek who won the $200 Shop in our Shire gift card.
Well done to the following winners who received a concession prize from their respective trader associations:
- Paloma – Diamond Creek
- Aimee – Eltham
- Sophie – Hurstbridge.
When you shop locally, you are giving back to our community. Local businesses are the heart and soul of our Shire, offering unique products and services that make our area special. Plus, the money you spend at a local shop stays here, helping create jobs and keep our economy strong.
Shopping local also means getting to know the people behind the counter. They’re our neighbours, always ready with a smile and a friendly chat. And because local businesses are so connected to our community, they are often the first to support local events and charities. So next time you’re thinking about where to shop, remember that when you shop in our shire, you’re helping to keep our community vibrant and full of character.
