Sway - pop-up choir evening

Just Sing Something is a singing tribe for people who know they can, and for people who think they can't.

This event will take place in the newly renovated multi-purpose room at Eltham-Montmorency Uniting Church and is open to anyone who enjoys group singing. Pop-up choirs are a great way for people to dip a toe in and discover, or rediscover after many years, the fun, feel-good, mindful and connections that singing with others brings.

This event is open to all age groups and abilities.

'Sway' is a bolero-mambo song, written by Mexican composers Luis Demetrio and Pablo Beltrán Ruiz. Beltrán recorded the song for the first time with his orchestra in 1953, but the first commercially successful version was recorded in the USA by Dean Martin in 1954. Most recently, Michael Buble's recording has enjoyed global airplay success.

For this event, we will be singing a four-part vocal arrangement by Kirby Shaw, with big band backing (recorded). Musical reading ability and previous harmony experience is an advantage, but not essential. All are welcome to join us for an enjoyable evening of singing. A printed music/lyric sheet will be provided on arrival, to be returned at the end of the event. There's no performance pressure, just time to enjoying the collective buzz of singing with others. Towards the end of the evening you'll be invited to record our final rendition on your own device.
