Nillumbik Historical Society would like to welcome you to their home at Ellis Cottage on Ellis Cottage Reserve Diamond Creek to learn about our township's history.
A detailed presentation will accompany the talk which will cover many aspects of our history from early days of subsistence farming and wood carting; the discovery of gold and its impact on our townships growth; the beginnings and importance of fruit growing across the district; when our schools started; sports and social events bringing the community together; and a detailed view of how we got our name - why and when were we called Nillumbik and Diamond Creek?
After the talk, which will run for approximately an hour, the Historical Society welcomes questions and discussion with Society members.
The Historical Society provide a delicious home-made afternoon tea with their talks, and you are invited to stay and enjoy that too.
