At the April Council Meeting, Council endorsed the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 and released the document for community consultation until Friday 30 May 2025 to gather feedback on the plan.

A Revenue and Rating Plan is developed every four years to determine the most appropriate and affordable revenue and rating approach for the Shire.

The draft Revenue and Rating Plan explains where Council’s main income comes from and helps guide income estimates for the 2025-2029 Financial Plan. It ensures a fair and equitable distribution of rates across property owners.

It also sets out principles that are used in decision making for other revenue sources such as fees and charges.

The Revenue and Rating Plan is a requirement in the Local Government Act 2020 and supports the delivery of the four-year Council Plan.

Mayor Councillor John Dumaresq said "Our residents pay rates that are essential for funding the services and infrastructure that support our community. We want to ensure the Revenue and Rating Plan is fair, transparent and reflects your needs as ratepayers. I encourage everyone to review the draft plan and provide feedback - your input is vital in shaping how your rates are invested back into the Shire to benefit all of us."

The results from this consultation will be provided to Council before the Plan is finalised and presented for adoption at the June 2025 Council Meeting.
