National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week 2023

Council celebrated the positive change driven by local volunteers during National Volunteer Week (May 15-21), with the 2023 theme ‘The Change Makers’.

Volunteers help to make Nillumbik a more connected, safer, resilient and inclusive place to live.  They turn their passion into purpose by serving across a range of Council programs, community groups, services, facilities, clubs, causes and organisations.

Mayor Ben Ramcharan said National Volunteer Week is a time to highlight the crucial role volunteering has at the heart of our community.

Volunteers were congratulated at morning teas, lunches and get-togethers across the Shire, thanked on billboards, and celebrated in the media, culminating in a special evening of inspiring speakers, dinner and entertainment at the Volunteer Recognition Evening on 24 May.
