National Volunteer Week 2026 will be held from 18 to 24 May. It’s Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and a chance to recognise the incredible contribution volunteers make in our community.

Your Year to Volunteer

The 2026 theme, “Your Year to Volunteer,” encourages people across Australia to get involved and make a positive difference in ways that suit them.

Celebrating volunteers in Nillumbik

Throughout the week, Council will highlight the work of local volunteers and the important role they play in supporting programs, services and community life across Nillumbik.

Get involved

You can participate by:

  • exploring volunteer opportunities
  • sharing or celebrating local volunteer stories
  • thanking volunteers in your community

If you’re new to volunteering, this is a great time to see how you can get involved.

Find local volunteering opportunities by visiting our Volunteering website pages.

Thank you

Nillumbik Shire Council thanks all volunteers for their generosity, commitment and positive impact on our community.
