Report and Consent is the process in which you seek approval from Council to proceed with building or construction works that may affect community assets, infrastructure or amenity.
Report and Consent applications are classified as either ‘siting’ or ‘non-siting’ matters, depending on the proposal.
If a Report and Consent matter affects your proposal, a building surveyor cannot issue a building permit until you obtain Report and Consent from Council.
If your design does not comply with siting requirements, an application for a siting variation is required. This relates to Part 5 of the Building Regulations.
Prior to applying for a building permit, a flooding application may be required if the land is liable to flooding. This is related to Building Regulations 153 or 154.
Before you can get a building permit for demolition, you may need to apply for consent. This is related to Section 29A of the Building Act.
If you intend to build any sort of structure over a drainage easement, you may need to apply for consent from Council first.
If your building work requires any part of a public access way or area of Council property to be fenced off – you will need consent from Council to install precautions such as temporary fencing. This relates to Regulation 116 of the Building Regulations.
