Background

The War Memorial Tower is a significant landmark, both historically and socially, serving as a symbol of the community’s connection to and remembrance of those affected by war. It is also valued for its aesthetic qualities, particularly the skilled use of local sandstone in its construction.

Over time, the tower naturally aged and some elements deteriorated. Conservation works in 2025 have restored its original character to ensure it remains a lasting place of remembrance for future generations.
