As part of Seniors Festival, Council is offering a free document shredding and e-waste drop off event for older residents.

As we become more aware of identity theft and security of our personal information, this is an opportunity for you to safely dispose of confidential documents such as old bank statements, bills and business records.

The 'Shred On Site' truck will be parked in the carpark and will shred your documents on site as you watch on the screen.

Shred at your own risk, make sure you have sorted through boxes carefully and only shred documents you want to dispose of!

Shredding

You can dispose of up to six archive size boxes of documents. Sorting and preparation of your documents must be completed before you arrive.

Council staff and Diamond Creek Men's Shed volunteers will be available to assist with moving boxes and e-waste items.

  • You can shred paper-based documents - manilla folders, lateral files, notebooks, diaries, business cards, cheque butts. You do not need to remove staples or paperclips.
  • You cannot shred cardboard boxes, plastic, hanging files, lever arch files and ring binders, general rubbish (pens, pencils, USB sticks), x-rays or batteries.

E-waste

If you’re doing the full spring clean and declutter, use this event to also drop off small electrical items, including batteries, light globes/LEDs/CFLs, mobile phones, electric toothbrushes, computer accessories, tablets, laptops, small cameras, cords and cables.

If your e-waste can fit through a 40cm x 40cm opening, you can bring it to this e-waste drop off at Doc-Shred-25.

  • Remove any batteries from items and recycle separately.
  • Remember to remove your personal information and data from your mobile phone, camera or computer before recycling.

This event is being run with support from Diamond Creek Men's Shed who will be having a Shed Open Day (BBQ, coffee cart and shed tours) at the same time.

All attendees will get a voucher to redeem for a free coffee at the coffee cart.

Come on down, shred your documents, drop off your e-waste and visit the Men's Shed.
