Join the Friends of Mine Rd Reserve and Nillumbik biodiversity staff for a BioBlitz of Mine Rd Reserve, Nutfield.

Over an afternoon and evening, we will attempt to record as many of the plants, animals, fungi and insects as possible in this special reserve.

Council staff and friends group members will be available to help identify and inspire you to record what you see through adding observations to biological databases, contributing to citizen science and management of the reserve.

The skills you learn you will be able to use at home or your local reserve.

Meeting at 3pm, we will spend daylight looking for plants, fungi and bryophytes. As night comes, we will turn our senses to looking for wildlife. We plan to spotlight and look for wildlife including frogs, birds and mammals. If conditions suit, we will set up a lightsheet to see what invertebrates (insects) we can find.

You are welcome to only attend the daytime or nighttime sessions depending on your interest.

Observations will be uploaded into the iNaturalist app and contribute to Nillumbik's project for the City Nature Challenge - an annual event which seeks to document biodiversity in cities across the world.
