National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) returns in 2026 with a vibrant celebration of reading, creativity and community connection.
Millions of children, families, educators and library lovers across Australia will come together to share the same story at the same time.
Join us at three Nillumbik locations on Wednesday 27 May as some special guests read Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton:
This energetic Australian picture book follows rookie captain Luna Roo and her outback football team as they tackle nerves, challenges and teamwork on the way to their biggest match yet.
Chosen from over 80 submissions, the story was selected for its uplifting themes of courage, resilience and self‑belief - qualities that resonate strongly with young readers.
NSS is coordinated annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) to promote early literacy, storytelling, and the joy of reading together. It is a free nationwide event open to schools, libraries, early‑learning centres, community groups and families everywhere.
