Nillumbik Shire Council has partnered with the Nillumbik Dementia Friendly Alliance to recognise World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is observed each year on 15 June. It is a global day led by the United Nations to raise awareness of elder abuse, encourage communities to recognise and prevent harm, and promote the rights, dignity, and safety of older people.

We welcome the community to come together to learn, talk openly, and take action to prevent elder abuse. It highlights everyone’s role in supporting older people to live free from harm, with dignity and respect.

Elder Rights Australia will be presenting on topics;

  • The National Aged Care Advocacy Program
  • Aged Care Rights
  • Recognising and Responding to Elder Abuse
  • Navigating the Aged Care System

Afternoon tea provided at this free event.
