Since 2020, Bushfire Resilience Inc. (BRI) has provided essential bushfire preparedness information through webinars and a comprehensive website. BRI delivers high-quality, evidence-based information to households facing bushfire threats that is not available elsewhere. With 680 subscribers in Nillumbik our footprint is significant.
Within Nillumbik, 8,500 privately owned properties, occupying 87 per cent of the Shire’s footprint, has a planning overlay of Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO), the highest bushfire property risk classification applicable in Victoria. BMO property owners are BRI’s target audience. BRI provides a free information service to help households to become bushfire resilient. The purpose of the association is to facilitate the provision of information about bushfires to the community.
BRI is an independent, community-led not-for-profit focused on equipping households with practical tools to prepare for bushfires.
Their mission is to improve community engagement in reducing bushfire risk by providing expert knowledge and promoting it to households in a timely and practical manner.
