Creative Community Space

Resource-Recover-Centre-1

We are currently in a period of growth and transition. While we still have a presence at the Banyule Nillumbik Tech School, we no longer see the wider community visiting us there as regularly.

Our programs are now delivered across a few locations:

  • Sewing classes are held at Wellington Street Neighbourhood House
  • Resource recovery operates from The Fabric ReStore in East Ivanhoe
  • FeltLOOM sessions will continue at the Tech School for the foreseeable future

Folding Bees

Folding Bees currently take place at the Tech School on an ad-hoc basis. Keep an eye on our socials for upcoming dates.

Volunteers are welcome to come along and help sort and fold fabric so it can be made available to the public. This work plays an important role in keeping textiles out of landfill and supporting our circular economy model.

Our Mission

At Creative Community Space, we are dedicated to fostering creativity, supporting sustainability, and building strong community connections. Our mission is to empower individuals through hands-on crafting, upcycling, and resource-sharing initiatives that reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable living.

What we offer

  • Workshops and classes: From beginner sewing to advanced upcycling, our diverse range of classes caters to all skill levels and interests. Whether you’re looking to learn a new craft or hone your existing skills, our expert instructors are here to guide you.
  • Resource Recovery Centre: Our centre is stocked with donated fabrics, patterns, trims, and other crafting supplies. You can buy, donate, or swap items, earning circular credits to use towards future purchases.
  • Drop-in workspace: Need a place to work on your projects? Our fully equipped workspace is available for drop-ins, featuring cutting tables, sewing machines, and more. Perfect for those who need a proper setup away from home.
  • Community events: Join us for special events (such as the ReeVAMP Market), including community crafting sessions, sustainability talks, and collaborative projects. These events are designed to bring people together and inspire creative solutions for a greener future.

♻️ Sustainability and impact

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond crafting. By promoting the reuse and recycling of materials, we aim to reduce textile waste and its impact on the environment. Our circular credit system encourages the community to donate and swap materials, creating a continuous cycle of reuse.

Community collaboration

Located inside Banyule Nillumbik Tech School, our unique partnership allows us to share resources, knowledge, and connections. This collaboration is a pioneering approach to community building and resource utilization, enhancing the educational experience and fostering innovation.
