This grant aims to fill a gap in funding for community groups requiring assistance outside our Nillumbik Community Fund grant timelines.

These grants provide funding to support community groups and not-for-profit organisations with emerging or unexpected needs, or to help deliver one-off activities to support community initiatives that will benefit and engage the Nillumbik community.

2025-26 Quick Response Grant recipients

Boomerang Bags Nillumbik

Maintenance and Insurance | $1,000
Maintenance of sewing machines, heading tape for bunting handles as well as yearly insurance.

Carols in the Park, Diamond Creek

Carols in the Park | $1,000
Singers and local musicians will lead this gathering, singing traditional carols. Residents and visitors are invited to bring their own picnic baskets, rugs/chairs, torches, etc and join in the celebration.

Diamond Creek Bowling Club

Shed Replacement | $1,000
Replacement of existing old shed with a new storage shed.

Diamond Valley Community Support

Volunteer Computer Upgrade | $1,000
Replacement of outdated hardware and software with a new desktop computer, monitor and keyboard for volunteer use at the Diamond Creek Op Shop.

Diamond Valley Railway

Fire Readiness | $1,000
Provision of four fire hoses for suppression of small fires in bushland around the railway to improve the fire safety of the environment.

Eltham District Historical Society

Insurance | $1,000
To purchase insurance cover to support operation.

Eltham Toy Library

Eltham Toy Library Upgrades | $1,000
A community project targeting upgrades and enhancements to improve the experience of toy library visitors in the Nillumbik community. This project will include new educational and developmental toys for community borrowing, new storage containers, and advertising costs (including flyers and social media).

Greensborough Historical Society

Publication - Walking the Kurrum Yallock (Plenty River) Part Two | $1,000
Anne Paul (GHS member) has completed the second book, a walking guide to the Plenty River Trail. This sequel includes key historical Nillumbik sites in Greensborough. Funds sought for design/set up of printing, which will be available to community members following a promotional book launch at Diamond Valley Library in 2026.

Merri Creek Management Committee

Plenty River ReWilding Project WaterWatch Group | $1,000
Partnering with Merri Creek Management Committee WaterWatch to collect baseline water quality data and continue monthly monitoring, to determine if recent bank revegetation works by the Friends of the Plenty River Walk and others has improved the water quality of the Plenty River.

Nillumbik Dementia Friendly Alliance

Volunteer Police Checks and Promotional Materials | $1,000
Promotional materials for this new service to inform the community of existing services which are dementia friendly, and undertake police checks of 22 volunteers.

St Andrews/Queenstown Historical Society

Storage Seats | $658
Lockable weatherproof storage seats to provide safe storage of equipment that belongs to the group and extra covered outside seating options.

Wildlife Advocates Nillumbik

Emergency Help for Wildlife Cards | $1,000
To produce small cards that contain emergency contact details for wildlife rescue.

Women of Montsalvat

Women of the Badlands Exhibition | $1,000
An exhibition and series of In Conversation events celebrating the work of creative women who have come through one of Nillumbik’s artistic incubators: Montsalvat, Dunmoochin, Baldessin Studio and Laughing Waters. The project seeks to strengthen Nillumbik’s creative ecosystem and connections between artists.

Purchase and installation of a combination washer/dryer to support vulnerable people accessing shower facilities.

Andrew Ross Museum

Kangaroo Ground - Past and Present Promotion | $789
Promotion of the Andrew Ross Museum, featuring a history of the Kangaroo Ground area and peoples past and present, including a Hogmanay presentation, updated information brochure, website inclusion of past and present Chronicles (ARM newsletter), and a mud map information sheet of the local area.

Arthurs Creek Community Centre

Car Boot Sale | $171
Provision of free face painting for kids at the ACCC Car Boot Sale.

Arthurs Creek District Landcare Group

Expert speakers and website upgrade | $1,000
Delivery of six free community education events during the year, featuring expert speakers on topics such as weed management, biodiversity, sustainable land practices, and water conservation. Upgrading website so community members can readily access event details, recordings, local environmental resources and contact information.

Arthurs Creek Mechanics Institute

36th Annual Arthurs Creek Garden Walk | $775
Garden Walk attracts both local residents and the broader Nillumbik community. It celebrates a shared interest in all aspects of gardening. Artworks, plant information and food are all available at the Hall. A Garden Guide booklet and map supports visitors on their self drive garden tour of five gardens.

Diamond Creek Men's Shed

Upgrade audio equipment for Shed's band (OC/DC) | $1,000
Our band is known as OC/DC (Old Codgers Diamond Creek) and is one of the many activity groups we have at our Shed to help promote the physical and mental health of men.

Diamond Valley Roller Derby Club

Protective Equipment Library | $1,000
Expanding their collection of protective gear to encourage more Nillumbik citizens to play roller derby by lending out free protective gear to those who want to learn how to skate and play who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

Edible Hub Community Garden

Wicking Bed Renewal | $980
Funding to refresh the community garden's wicking beds, and plant espalier fruit trees for the public to enjoy.

Assistance to maintain insurance cover essential to the operation of the Eltham District Historical Society.

Purchase of a new automated external defibrillator.

Eltham Junior Football Club

Marquee for All Abilities | $1,000
To enable the purchase of a marquee at Eltham High, to offer shelter and a dedicated coaches' box, ensuring the all-abilities team players receive the best support, guidance, and game-day experience in a safe and accessible environment.

Eltham Men's Shed

Kitchen appliances, cookware and utensils | $650
Funding to purchase large, commercial-style kitchen utensils, for use in their recently renovated kitchen facilities for its 120 members.

Footscape

Foot Care Kits | $1,000
Footscape assembles basic foot care kits for distribution to homeless persons, First Nations persons and asylum seekers through project affiliate organisations. Through this project recipients of kits are empowered by accessing resources to undertake daily selfcare foot practices to promote health and wellbeing.

Remembrance Services for Anzac Day and Remembrance Day | $800
Supporting services on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day, with the laying of wreaths and providing morning teas.

Greensborough Historical Society

Internet Access Provision | $780
Internet access for Society members and visitors to research local and family history, which will benefit both individuals and the community.

Imagine Re-Evolution

Enhanced Branding | $1,000
Professional graphic design services to develop cohesive branding materials that will significantly enhance our ability to communicate with and serve the Nillumbik community. This one-off investment will create a strong visual identity that supports our mission and improves community recognition and engagement.

Lions Club of Eltham

Long weekend community event | $1,000
Public community event supported by a collection of other community groups, providing activities for children and families to do on January 26, with a free barbecue and music.

Lions Club of Nillumbik

Eltham Christmas Hamper/Toy Project | $1,000
The Lions Club of Nillumbik, with the Eltham Vines Baptist Church and others, will provide and distribute at least 100 Christmas hampers and toys to local families experiencing financial hardship.

Nillumbik Chinese Seniors Association (NCSA)

Funding to establish the association, which will foster a welcoming family-oriented environment where older people from diverse cultural backgrounds can connect, socialise and engage in health activities and promote Chinese traditional culture.

Music for a Warming World is an inspiring band that performs concerts around the theme of climate change. The performance presents a musical and visual journey about living in a destabilised climate which is reshaping our future. It is about learning how to live in the long emergency.

First Peoples Assembly of Victoria have asked Nillumbik Reconciliation Group and Reconciliation Banyule, and the councils of Nillumbik and Banyule, to assist them with an educational activity for the people of these Shires. There will be a panel discussion and Q&A about the journey towards Treaty in Victoria.

North Warrandyte (Osborne Peninsula) Landcare Group

30 Years of Volunteering | $1,000
In celebration of 30 years of bush regeneration along the Yarra River in North Warrandyte, the group has documented the rich history of the area, its past residents and the surrounding environment in a book for future generations.

Northern Eagles Soccer Club

Sustaining our supports with shelter | $690
Purchase of three gazebos to shade substitute players, extended families and friends on game days. This will entice more supporters, especially for junior teams, by providing them with some shelter from the elements whilst still cheering on their favourite team.

Open House CIC

Activating Open House at the Nillumbik Youth Hub | $1,000
Pilot of the Open House/Edendale program at the Nillumbik Youth Hub in Diamond Creek, fostering youth-led projects that promote sustainability, mental health and overall wellbeing. A diverse selection of arts and crafts materials will be sourced to support engaging and sustainable projects, which will empower young participants to explore creativity, environmental awareness and community design.

Plenty Historical Society

Purchase of a solid projector stand, blockout blinds and extra display boards for the Society and other groups that use the facilities. Having the proper equipment makes the space more accessible and usable to groups in our community.

These funds will help meet growing community demand and reduce the frequency with which we are forced to limit supplies due to stock shortages.
