Published on 06 October 2025
An action-packed day of fun, free activities will be held at Edendale Community Environment Farm to celebrate Children’s Week.
On Wednesday 22 October, come along for:
- Sensory friendly storytime and animal encounters
- Special Children’s Rights Storytime with Eltham Library
- Farm tours and nature-based activities like bird bingo
- Creative sessions in the craft corner
- Portable golf
The events have been designed to be inclusive, interactive and accessible, with activities suitable for a range of ages.
Mayor John Dumaresq said Children’s Week offers a time to both celebrate children and reflect on the importance of protecting and nurturing them.
“This year’s theme is ‘Everyone should know about children’s rights’, which we should all be mindful of, every day,” Cr Dumaresq said.
“Council takes children’s safety very seriously and we’re proud to support an event that acknowledges children’s rights,” he said.
Edendale Ward councillor Kelly Joy said Edendale Community Environment Farm was the ideal place for a major celebration of children, for children.
“We welcome families along to enjoy the activities on offer at Edendale, which will be both fun and educational,” Cr Joy said.
“A particular highlight will be storytime with the library, where children can hear about their right to feel safe, be heard, and to learn, play and be treated fairly,” she said.
In addition to the activity day on 22 October, there will also be ‘art for kinder kids’ sessions on Tuesday 21 October and Thursday 23 October at the Eltham Living & Learning Hub.
