Nillumbik is home to more than 60 outdoor public playspaces, and Council is committed to enhancing the lives of children and their families by improving these spaces.
We understand the importance of quality outdoor playspaces, which provide opportunities for children to engage with the natural environment through cognitive, creative, physical and social types of play.
In addition to minor works occurring at various locations, several sites have been identified as priorities for 2025-26 renewal works based on age, condition audits and levels of use by the community. This includes Allison Crescent in Eltham North, Irene Court Reserve in Diamond Creek, Kangaroo Ground Emergency Operations Centre Playground in Kangaroo Ground, James Cook Drive Reserve in Diamond Creek and Alistair Knox Park in Eltham.
Works completed for Allison Crescent Playground
The refreshed playspace includes a combination unit featuring physical play activities including a twist net, rock wall, monkey bars and slide as well as imaginative features. A new basket swing and rocker have also been included. Designed for children aged two to 12, the upgraded space will provide fun and inclusive play opportunities.
Works have now been completed, and the new playspace is available for use.
