Connecting to Country school holiday workshop

Next date: Sunday, 28 June 2026 | 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Artist Phillip HOWe in studio with paintings and easel

Join artist Phillip HOWe for a special free school holiday workshop designed for primary school-aged children.

This fun workshop encourages participants to closely observe and respond to natural materials and patterns found in Country.

Using leaves, bark, stones, feathers, sticks and other found objects, kids will explore texture, mark-making, tracing, pattern and form through drawing and painting processes.

Recommended for ages 8 to 12. Younger children are welcome to join with support from a parent or guardian, where appropriate.

This event is presented as part of Local Remix: Assembly, taking place from 26 June to 16 August at Montsalvat.

About Phillip HOWe

Phillip HOWe is a Naarm (Melbourne)-based multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, printmaking, painting and installation.

His practice unfolds through an intuitive dialogue with Country, where reclaimed materials, bold forms and rhythmic mark-making give rise to works that explore connection, memory and transformation.

Drawing on his Celtic and Indigenous heritage, HOWe creates a distinctive visual language shaped by the textures, energies and cycles of the natural world.

His work spans intimate works on paper to large-scale public commissions across Victoria.
