For intermediate to experienced regular or E-Bike riders

If you know how to ride but want to brush-up on your skills and confidence riding on the road and on shared paths this is the course for you! Plus, learn more about opportunities for regular rides in a fun group.

The Ageing Well team in partnership with Nillumbik Bicycle User Group (nillumBUG) are offering this low-cost course for older riders.

Come and revise your skills, possibly learn some new tips, and meet the nillumBUG crew who are looking for new members to join their weekly rides.

The practical course will be conducted by qualified instructor and bike coach from 'Bike it Better', Jennie Ramage, a later convert to cycling with lived experience of developing new skills over fifty, and will cover things like:

  • revision of bike handling
  • emergency braking
  • riding in traffic
  • negotiating different traffic scenarios
  • riding in groups
  • sharing paths
  • road rules and safety principles
  • strategies and information for safe riding after injury or other issues affect mobility
