Tools of the Trade for Women

This 10-session course is aimed at women or gender diverse participants over 55 years of age who would like to learn how to complete basic maintenance and DIY tasks in the home.

The course is delivered in a safe and welcoming environment, while connecting socially and making friends. 

Increase your confidence and independence to complete home maintenance tasks or projects yourself!

Delivered by volunteers at the Men's Shed.

Skills covered

Participants will be introduced to a range of tools and techniques, their purpose and how to use them safely to complete home maintenance tasks, including:

  • plastering a hole in the wall
  • replacing tap washers
  • using an electric drill
  • hanging a picture
  • preparing surfaces
  • filling and caulking
  • basic carpentry, and more.

What to bring

  • Water bottle
  • Sturdy shoes
  • Notebook and pen
