The annual rate notice for your property includes a waste management charge. This includes the cost of the kerbside bin collection service provided by Nillumbik Shire Council.

Standard service

For the standard bin service, the annual waste management charge for 2025-2026 is $679.87. This is payable with your rates.

The standard service includes:

  • 120 litre green waste bin, collected weekly
  • 240 litre recycling bin, collected fortnightly
  • 120 litre landfill bin, collected fortnightly.

Landfill

The standard service includes one 120 litre landfill bin, collected fortnightly.

Note: You must be the property owner to request changes to the bin service. Changes to the landfill bin service can increase or decrease the annual waste management charge. The cost for changes and the total annual charge below are based on the standard service.

At this time, only a bigger green waste bin can be ordered online. You must request all other bin service changes by phone or in person.

Step 2.Provide your property details

We will need to look up your current service details and confirm the property owner. If it is a new property, you will need to provide your certificate of occupancy.

Step 3.Have your credit card ready

You can pay using VISA or Mastercard. We do not accept Diners Club and American Express.

Step 4.Follow the bin swap instructions

If you are changing bin size, you will be provided with instructions for swapping it over.

Step 2.Provide your property details

Pay with cash, cheque, money order, EFTPOS, Mastercard or Visa. We do not accept Diners Club and American Express.
