Tree pruning works around overhead powerlines
27 June 2025
Nillumbik Shire Council contractors will undertake pruning works and possible tree removal around overhead powerlines. The works will be undertaken in the streets of Eltham, Eltham North, Diamond Creek, Plenty and Greensborough, with a small number of streets in Wattle Glen and Research between July and December 2025.
The works are part of the regular maintenance to ensure compliance with the Electricity Safety (Electrical Line Clearance) Regulations 2020.
Council is responsible for maintaining a minimum clearance space around the powerlines to avoid the chance of trees contacting powerlines, which could lead to power outages and, in some cases, fires.
