Mange Management Inc. is a grassroots, volunteer-led organisation dedicated to protecting and improving the welfare of wombats across Victoria.

Our primary focus is reducing the impact of sarcoptic mange, a devastating parasitic disease that causes immense suffering and is one of the leading threats to wild wombat populations.

We work closely with landholders, wildlife carers, local councils, and community groups to deliver on-the-ground treatment programs, provide free treatment kits to landowners, and offer training and ongoing support to those helping wombats in their local areas.

Beyond direct treatment, we raise awareness about wildlife health issues, advocate for better management practices, and collaborate with researchers and government agencies to develop effective, evidence-based solutions for the future.

Our work not only provides immediate welfare benefits for individual animals but also contributes to the long-term health and resilience of local ecosystems. As natural ecosystem engineers, healthy wombats play a vital role in improving soil health and creating burrow habitats that provide shelter for many other native species.

If you spot a wombat showing signs of mange or any other injury, please let us know as soon as possible. Sarcoptic mange is a progressive disease and, without treatment, affected wombats will die from infection, exposure, dehydration, or starvation. Early intervention can make a life-saving difference. Wombats are treated in their natural environment, so there is no need to touch, handle, or attempt to capture the animal. The best thing you can do is report the sighting through our website so our volunteers can assess the situation and provide appropriate treatment and support.
