Beyond Age is an arts project provoking thought about ageing and older people, celebrating life experience, reflection, resilience, and wisdom.
Beyond Age aims to shift attitudes toward ageing by challenging stereotypes and highlighting the value, wisdom and contributions of older people in our community.
The intergenerational project brought together members of Nillumbik Shire Council’s Positive Ageing Advisory Committee and photography students from Eltham High School.
Participants attended a workshop by Senior Rights Victoria exploring the benefits and challenges of ageing, followed by a photoshoot.
Students then created artworks by combining portraits of committee members - both current and from their youth - with personal reflections and advice to their younger selves.
