Proposed parking changes

What's changing?

Council is proposing to amend parking restrictions at 931–937 Main Road, Eltham, in response to feedback from local business owners. The proposed changes aim to better balance the needs of local businesses, residents, and visitors.

Current restrictions:

  • Eight (8) of the nine (9) parking bays are currently restricted to ½P (30-minute limit), 90° angle parking from 8.30am - 10.00pm, Monday to Saturday.

Proposed changes:

  • These eight (8) parking bays will change to 1P (1-hour limit), 90° angle parking from 8.30am - 10.00pm, Monday to Saturday.

No changes to the following:

  • The ninth (9th) bay, which is a designated loading bay (furthest to the south), will remain unchanged.

  • Loading Zone (Parallel parking) restrictions will remain for the eight (8) parking bays from 7.00am - 8.30am, Tuesday to Thursday.

This proposal aims to increase parking duration for visitors and residents during busy weekend periods while maintaining a healthy turnover of vehicles.

Why this change?

The current ½P limit has been identified as too short for many customers visiting the adjoining businesses. The proposed increase to a 1P limit aims to provide customers with additional time to shop, while still maintaining healthy turnover in this busy area.

Council is currently seeking feedback from local business operators. If majority support is received, the change will proceed.
